HERITAGE · CRAFTSMANSHIP · LEGACY
A piece that gets more valuable — and more fragrant — the longer you own it.
Hand-carved agarwood is the only collectible category where the material itself improves with time. The resin oxidises gently over decades, deepening the colour and intensifying the scent. Master carvers in Guanzhu Town — the global capital of agarwood carving — translate raw plantation logs and the rarest Cultivated Kynam blocks into Guanyin figures, Pixiu wealth animals, calligraphy plaques and abstract presentation pieces that compound in value year over year. Every piece is one-of-a-kind: resin pattern, grain orientation and finish are never duplicated. Acquire today; your grandchildren still own something rarer than they did.
- ✓Hand-carved by Guanzhu Town masters — the global centre of traditional agarwood carving
- ✓Resin pattern, weight and grain are unique to every piece — none duplicated
- ✓Plantation tier from $80; Cultivated Kynam tier into the four figures and beyond
- ✓CITES Appendix II documentation for legal cross-border collector trade

About This Product
Agarwood Carvings — Complete Wholesale Guide
Agarwood carvings represent the apex of artisanal agarwood craftsmanship. Each piece is hand-carved from a solid block of plantation Aquilaria sinensis selected for its natural grain, resin density, and visual character. Unlike mass-produced wood carvings, agarwood art carries an intrinsic oud fragrance that intensifies with handling and age — making each carving both a visual artwork and a living aromatic object.
Our carving range spans several distinct styles. Standard plantation carvings include figures from Chinese and Buddhist iconography — Guanyin, laughing Buddha, dragons, phoenixes — carved in sizes from 5 to 30cm. These are popular for home altar display, gift retail, and export to Asian diaspora markets globally.
For the Middle Eastern market, we produce Arabic-style oud carvings with geometric and calligraphic motifs. These pieces are designed to appeal to collectors, interior designers, and premium gifting buyers in Saudi Arabia, UAE, Qatar and Kuwait. The natural oud wood fragrance of the carving itself doubles as an ambient home scent.
At the rare end of our offering are kynam agarwood carvings. Kynam (also written kynar or kyara) is the highest grade of agarwood in the Japanese kōdō classification — characterised by its cool, bitter-sweet scent and extremely dense resin content. Kynam carvings are effectively museum-quality collector items. Availability is limited and pricing is on application. Tradition & Meaning
Why Agarwood Carvings carries more than scent
A Guanyin in agarwood, a Buddha in kynam, an Arabic calligraphy panel in resinous heartwood — in every tradition that carves this wood, the piece is understood to hold breath. Chinese collectors place Guanyin carvings on home altars as the focal point of household devotion; Gulf buyers commission calligraphic blocks as ceremonial gifts; Zen temples receive single abstract forms for tokonoma display. Every figure in this collection was chosen because it represents a living ritual, not a souvenir.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is kynam agarwood and why is it so rare?
Kynam (also kyara in Japanese, qinan in Chinese) is the ultra-premium grade of agarwood. It is characterised by extremely high resin content, a distinctive cool and bittersweet scent unlike other agarwood grades, and very limited natural occurrence. Kynam agarwood carvings are among the most valuable natural material art objects in the world.
How do I care for an agarwood carving?
Keep agarwood carvings away from direct sunlight and extreme humidity changes. Occasional light handling releases the natural oud scent. You can apply a small amount of natural oud oil to maintain the fragrance. Do not use water or chemical polish — the natural surface oil finish should be preserved.
Do agarwood carvings retain their fragrance?
Yes. Unlike wood carvings coated in fragrance oil, the scent in an agarwood carving comes from within the wood's natural resin. The fragrance is released when handled or placed in a warm environment, and continues over many years.
Can I order custom agarwood carvings for wholesale?
Yes. We work with experienced agarwood carvers to produce custom designs, sizes and motifs. Custom carving orders require a minimum of 5 pieces and a lead time of 14–30 days depending on complexity.
Are carvings from plantation or wild agarwood?
Standard and premium carvings are from plantation Aquilaria sinensis — CITES documented and legally exportable. Kynam-grade pieces may include sustainably sourced wild stock with full documentation. All export shipments include CITES permits.
