Who is Wang Jianyu?

Wang Jianyu is the founder and chief sourcing officer of AgarwoodTown, a plantation agarwood wholesaler he started in 2014 in Guan Zhu Town, Dian Bai District, Maoming, Guangdong. Dianbai is the largest Aquilaria sinensis growing area in China, and that is where he buys, grades and ships from. Over 12 years the business has supplied 500+ B2B buyers in 10+ countries with oud wood, oud oil, bakhoor, incense and bracelets.

15+ years hands-on experience grading plantation agarwood, sourcing directly from Dianbai and Maoming districts in Guangdong — the world's largest Aquilaria sinensis cultivation region. Wang has personally inspected thousands of CITES export shipments and holds plantation certification from China's National Forestry and Grassland Administration. He advises GCC, European and East Asian wholesale buyers on grade selection, CITES compliance and supply chain due diligence.

How does he grade agarwood?

Grading at AgarwoodTown is a hands-on check, not a label copied from a supplier. For example, a batch of chips is judged on four things: resin colour and spread across the cut face, the sink test in water, a slow-heat aroma test, and weight against the stated grade. A piece with resin through most of its cross-section that sinks in water is graded higher than a piece with a thin resin layer that floats. Oud oil is checked by GC-MS when a buyer asks for a lab report. Each wholesale shipment travels with a grading note and CITES Appendix II export paperwork, and a reference sample from the same batch is kept in Guangdong so any later grade dispute can be settled side by side, as our refund policy describes.

What does he review on this site?

Every buying guide on the AgarwoodTown blog is written or reviewed by Wang Jianyu before it is published, and he signs off on the grade, origin and price statements on product pages. Price ranges are taken from our own quotes and order records, not from marketplace listings, and are shown as ranges because agarwood is priced batch by batch. When a fact changes, such as a CITES rule or a price band, the page is updated and its date changes with it. How we write, source and correct content is set out in our editorial policy.
